our S T O R Y
From an idea to our first bottle
Family

We are three brothers, Giacomo, Leopoldo and Francesco Profili. We grew up far away from Italy, but were fortunate enough to have grandparents living in the Prosecco region, who taught us from a young age to appreciate its many wonders.

It did not take long before we wondered "why don't we produce our own Prosecco, and share it with the world?"

So we decided to plant our own vineyard, grow it following agro-ecological principles, and one day give birth to a top-of-the-class Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore.

Our vision
Matilde is here to offer you great moments with your friends and family, certain that you are drinking a superior Prosecco, produced with the greatest care for the earth.

Name

Matilde is the name of our great-great-grandmother, who gave her name to the family house, where we spent every holiday since we were children.

There are four sisters on the roof, representing the four seasons. It was quite natural and exciting for us to choose the autumn statue as our emblem. Not only is it that wonderful time of the year when the grapes are ripe and we harvest them to turn them into Prosecco, but also, she perfectly embodies the main values we want to share. Having a sense for elegance, and a sense for partying !
Work

It is important and a great pleasure for us to do as much as possible ourselves in the vineyard. To help us in the ecological management of the vineyard we called on a young like-minded agricultural entrepreneur, Federico Tacoli.

He obtained his PhD with research on innovative techniques for the protection and fertilisation of vineyards, manages his family's winery, and started consulting other winemakers recently. With his help, we are proud to work towards an ever more sustainable viticulture.

Art
We like things to be beautiful. And to represent Matilde we wanted to do something special.

So we asked artist Charlie Masson, whose art we really appreciate and who perfectly understood what we stand for, to give us his take. We simply fell in love with his painting of Matilde. So much so that what was first planned to be a yearly endeavour, turned out to be definitive, and we will keep his Matilde for the forseeable future.

The idea to collaborate with artists is very important to us, because it fits with our whole project. Artists have that drive to go beyond what is expected. And that is exactly what we are doing both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Luisa has grown her passion for art experimenting with all sorts of crafts. She is attracted to colors, shapes, materials, fashion, music, food and any type of creative form.

For the past three years she has been working as an art director for an american advertising agency, travelling back and forth between Milan and New York. But most of all, she has drawn these beautiful pictures of the Profili brothers delivering Matilde by bicycle to eager customers in Milan and Brussels !
